After my Korean SAT, my parents advised me to study abroad. Known for providing a high-quality education in a safe and secured environment, Singapore is also a business epicentre in the heart of Asia. It is also a rare example of a multi-racial, multi-lingual, and multi-religious society where people live harmoniously together. As such, I knew that I would be exposed to a variety of language and culture.
PSB Academy is one of the recommended institutions for a student who is interested in studying life sciences. The school believes in equipping students not just in theory but also be able to perform in a real-work environment. This can be seen from the well-equipped science labs and well-mixed curriculum between theory and practice sessions. The lecturers are experts in the field of their studies and are passionate when explaining to the class. Often breaking down difficult terms to help us understand better. They would also patiently the students’ questions.
At the beginning of my studies, it was quite challenging to understand as the lecturers were conducted in English. I often felt like I missed something in the class because I didn’t understand the correct contexts, even though I knew the terms in English. I put in a lot of effort to revise on my own. Now, I can say that I’ve made progress not only in my language skill but also in my study.
Singapore offers an ideal environment for students to focus on studying with very few distractions that will impact them negatively. I believe education should be an opportunity for students to find out what they can achieve, and PSB Academy has done that. They let students uncover their hidden potential and believe that everyone can be good at something if they work hard. I personally have been encouraged not to doubt myself but to believe that I can succeed no matter the challenges.
I definitely can say studying in Singapore and PSB Academy have broadened my horizon and built a resilient character.
수능이 끝나고 부모님께서는 유학을 권하셨습니다. 안전하고 수준 높은 교육으로 유명한 싱가포르는 아시아 중심부의 비즈니스의 서사라고 하셨습니다. 또한 다양한 인종, 언어, 종교가 있기 때문에 다양한 언어와 문화를 접하게 될 것이라고 말씀하셨습니다.
PSB아카데미는 생명과학에 관심이 있는 학생들에게 추천하는 학교 중 하나입니다. 이론 뿐만 아니라 실제 업무 환경에서도 학생들을 준비시키고 있습니다. 이것은 이론과 실습 세션 사이에 잘 갖춰진 과학 실험실과 커리큘럼에서 잘 알 수 있습니다. 교수님들은 학문 분야 전문가이며, 수업시간에 설명할 때 매우 열정적입니다. 종종 어려운 용어를 쉽게, 더 잘 이해할 수 있도록 도와 주십니다. 또한 학생들의 질문들도 참을성 있게 다 받아 주십니다.
처음 제가 공부할 때는 영어로 수업이 진행되어 이해하기 어려웠습니다. 영어로 된 용어를 알면서도 정확한 문맥을 이해하지 못해 수업 시간에 뭔가 놓친 것 같은 느낌이 들 때가 많았습니다. 저는 스스로 극복하기 위해 많은 노력을 했습니다. 지금은 영어 뿐만 아니라 공부도 많이 늘었다고 말할 수 있습니다.
싱가포르는 학생들에게 공부에 집중할 수 있는 이상적인 환경을 제공한다고 생각합니다. 저는 교육이 학생들이 성취할 수 있는 것을 발견할 수 있는 기회가 되어야 한다고 생각하는데, PSB 아카데미가 그렇게 해온 것을 볼 수 있었습니다. 학생들의 숨겨진 잠재력을 드러내게 하고, 모든 사람이 열심히 노력하면 무언가를 잘할 수 있다고 믿게 해줍니다. 교수님께서는 항상 저 자신을 의심하지 말고 어떤 도전이 있어도 성공할 수 있다고 믿으라고 격려 해 주셨습니다.
싱가포르와 PSB 아카데미에서 공부하는 것이 제 시야를 넓히고 탄력적인 성격을 형성했다고 말할 수 있습니다.
