How has life been since you started school?
As an international student, moving to Singapore and starting a new chapter at PSB Academy has been very fulfilling. I’ve learnt a lot about independently taking care of myself, formed new friendships and strong bonds, explored places and activities in Singapore, picked up life-long skills, and more.
What made you further your studies with PSB Academy (versus other institutions)?
I chose PSB Academy because I am interested in biomedical science and the programme allows me to graduate in a shorter time while still gaining solid academic and practical foundations. Having pursued music for most of my life, making a sudden shift into a STEM degree was a drastic and unexpected change. Right after the pandemic, I prepared for and obtained a diploma in music performance. Then, I prepared for A-levels. These took a lot of time, so finding a more time-efficient study route piqued my interest. My hometown is relatively close to Singapore, so studying here felt like a great starting point—especially since I wasn’t very independent at first. Its reputation as one of the safest countries made the transition much easier.
What made you embark on your course / discipline? How will this programme help you to achieve your dreams?
Since I was a kid, I’ve always been interested in science as it explains why certain phenomena happens. However, I initially shunned this interest as I had already invested a lot in music. It wasn’t until I grew older and gained more experience that I became eager to pursue science. Studying for a Bachelor of Biomedical Science was my official first step towards a future in medicine.
In what ways has your education with us added value to your personal development and professional opportunities? How have our services helped build your character?
This programme has helped me build a strong foundation in scientific concepts while continuously refining my understanding. It has also allowed me to explore new and unfamiliar ideas, satisfying my curiosity and strengthening both my soft and technical skills for the future. I’ve significantly improved my professional writing, critical thinking, and laboratory skills, and I’ve also formed a bond with many new individuals, including lecturers.
How approachable and helpful were the lecturers/tutors? Was there anyone who motivated you through the challenges of completing your course?
Most of the time, I leave class feeling like I’ve really gained something. Although new concepts can be overwhelming at times, the lecturers were always there for us. Whether we had questions or feedback, it was never intimidating; perhaps it was the frequent short conversations I had with the lecturers that made them feel more familiar and approachable.
