Alumni Class of 2022
School of Health and Life Sciences

Personally, I have always found science very interesting as there is always a systematic approach to every discovery, leading me to pursue a Diploma in Biomedical Sciences in Polytechnic. My dream is to be a Forensic Scientist, and I hope that I will be able to contribute to the ever-growing science field or go as far as to even make a scientific breakthrough.

I chanced upon PSB Academy from my friends who have undertaken the same pathways while I was still serving the NS. Ultimately, I decided to enrol into La Trobe University (LTU) as I learnt that LTU offers up to 12 modules of exemption if one has a relevant diploma. I do happen to have one that I can use to my advantage.

Even though I found LTU’s trimester schedule pretty packed for my liking, but the school has provided ample resources for students to better understand concepts taught in classes. This has helped to ensure that we were able to keep up with the lessons and workload.

Presently, as a Medical Technologist at Parkway Laboratory Services, I process patient samples that are suspected of Covid-19. One of the modules – Advanced Topics in Medical Sciences B, taught me how viruses work and replicate in the human body. This helped me to better understand how Covid spreads within and outside the body, so the procedures we performed in the lab made sense to me.

My lecture experiences have been nothing but fruitful thus far. Personally, I really enjoyed Dr Agnes’s classes as she cuts to the chase when teaching and it helps me to keep my learning on track!
