Overview

Introduction

Our Foundation Certificate in Science provides a solid introduction to the key areas of life sciences. Covering essential topics such as Biology, Chemistry, and Mathematics, this course is designed to build your foundational knowledge and develop scientific skills in high-demand specialisations.​

​You can choose to sit for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) external examinations at PSB Academy as part of this course. The IGCSE qualification (equivalent to O-Level qualifications, grade for grade) can be used as an entry requirement to progress to the Certificate level, followed by a Foundation Diploma in Life Sciences, and eventually, a Bachelor’s Degree.​

Students will be studying 6 modules, and are expected to complete the course within 6 months.

*Students have the option to sit for the IGCSE external examination at PSB Academy. They may use the IGCSE qualification as an entry requirement to progress to the Certificate level. Students must achieve an overall mark of at least 50% in PSB Academy internal assessments to satisfy our graduation requirements.

Mode of Assessment

Assessment of this course may include assignments, projects, online quizzes and external examinations. Cambridge IGCSE external examination sessions occur twice a year, in June and November. Results are issued in August and January.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate, students have to:

  • complete and pass the modules stipulated in the course structure
  • fulfil attendance requirement

Academic Requirements

  • 2 GCE ‘N’ level (grade A-D or grade 1-5) or equivalent; OR
  • NITEC; OR
  • Mature candidates (≥ 30 years old with 8 years’ work experience);

Candidates with other qualifications will be considered as case-by-case basis

Minimum Age Requirement

  • 16 years old

English Language Requirement

  • GCE 'N' level English (Grade A-D); OR
  • IELTS  score of 5.5; OR
  • PSB Academy's Certificate in English Proficiency programme; OR
  • PSB Academy English Proficiency Test; OR
  • An equivalent English language qualification
