Introduction

In partnership with Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), this paramedicine diploma is specially designed to meet the demands of providing emergent care to an ageing and diverse population. 

This curriculum integrates core knowledge and practical skills to access, manage, and treat a wide range of trauma and medical emergencies in line with clinical practice guidelines. It also provides a strong academic foundation for those who wish to progress into undergraduate studies in related fields. By the end of this paramedicine diploma, you will: 

  • Gain core knowledge in areas related to paramedicine 
  • Apply this knowledge to develop the skills required for a successful career as a paramedic 
  • Perform the paramedic role at the level required by the profession through hands-on experience, quality supervision, and applied projects 

Choose to study full-time and enjoy a flexible mix of online and in-person learning. Upon completion, you can choose to further your studies with a Paramedic Science Degree from Coventry University*.

Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) 

The Diploma in Paramedicine is supported by the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), Singapore’s national emergency service provider. All students will undergo their clinical placement exclusively with SCDF, ensuring strong operational exposure to real emergency response environments and ambulance casework. 

 

COSEM Singapore

The programme is further supported by COSEM Singapore, a cooperative of former SCDF professionals providing industry-relevant expertise and insights. 

Duration

This course can be completed in 12 months, including clinical placements.

Assessment of this programme may include written reports, clinical case presentation, reflective journal, theory test and others.

Graduation Requirements

In order to graduate and progress to our Degree programmes, students have to:

  • complete and pass the modules stipulated in the course structure
  • fulfil attendance requirement
  • required to fulfil 1100 of placement hours in paramedic related industry 

Academic Requirements

  • 2 GCE ‘A’ Levels; OR
  • Local polytechnic diploma or equivalent; OR
  • Degree from a recognised university; OR
  • Mature candidates (≥ 30 years old with 5 years work experience); OR
  • Candidates with other qualifications will be considered as case-by-case basis

Medical & Physical Requirement

  • Clear pre-employment medical checkup and SCDF security clearance
  • Complete vaccination requirement for healthcare workers
  • Maintain a valid BCLS + AED certification throughout the duration of the course

Minimum Age Requirement

  • 18 years old

English Language Requirement

  • GCE ‘O’ level English (grade 1 to 7) or equivalent; OR
  • PSB Academy English Proficiency Test; OR
  • An equivalent English language qualification
