What is your highest educational qualification before joining PSB Academy? And what are you doing now?  

Before joining PSB Academy, my highest qualification was O-Levels. I started my journey at PSB Academy by enrolling in the Certificate programme.  After completing that, I pursued a Diploma in InfoComm Technology. I am currently pursuing my Bachelor’s Degree with Coventry University, at PSBA.  

How did you hear about PSB Academy, and why did you choose to study here? 

I first learned about PSB Academy through some of my peers who spoke highly of its supportive environment and quality programmes.   

What are your career goals for the future and why did you decide to take the course you’re studying now? 

My long-term career goal is contributing to impactful projects at a reputable company, leading innovative teams, and continuously developing my expertise in technology. 

I chose to study Computer Science because technology is at the heart of modern society, and I’m intrigued by how it drives innovation and addresses real-world challenges.  

Diploma in InfoComm Technology introduced me to programming, systems design, and data analysis, sparking my passion for these areas. Building on this foundation with a bachelor’s degree allows me to deepen my knowledge and refine the skills needed to achieve my aspirations. 

What are some skills you’ve picked up from your course that you think will be useful in real life or your future job? 

My course has equipped me with a wide range of technical and transferable skills that will benefit me in my professional career. These include programming proficiency, system analysis and design, and data management, Moreover, I’ve honed my critical thinking and problem-solving skills, which are crucial for tackling challenges and driving innovation in the IT industry.  

Do you think studying at a private institution like PSB Academy has given you an edge or put you at a disadvantage? Can you share any experiences that made you feel that way? 

Studying at PSB Academy has provided me with a significant edge. The academy’s focus on industry-relevant education ensures that I’ve gained practical skills and knowledge directly applicable to my field. The strong connections with industry partners also offered opportunities to explore real-world applications and connect with professionals in the field.  

One experience that stands out is the consistent guidance and encouragement I received from my lecturers. They were approachable, patient, and always willing to help. Compared to larger institutions, this supportive environment made it easier to address individual learning needs and has helped me stay focused and on track in my studies.  

While private institutions may sometimes be perceived as less prestigious than public universities, my time at PSB Academy has been invaluable in preparing me for the workforce. The combination of practical education, industry exposure, and a clear academic progression has been instrumental in my growth and confidence. 

Were there any lecturers at PSB Academy who inspired you? If so, who and why? 

Yes, Dr. Tan Boon Leing is one lecturer who truly inspired me. His dedication to his students was evident in how he consistently went above and beyond to help us succeed. During his module, he encouraged us to exceed expectations in group projects, urging us to strive for the best results rather than settling for the minimum requirements. 

Dr. Tan’s guidance pushed us to reach our potential, and his commitment to helping students succeed left a lasting impact on my learning experience. 

What’s the most unforgettable moment you’ve had at PSB Academy? 

One of my most memorable experiences at PSB Academy was a group project where we designed a simple game using code to control character movements. It was both challenging and exciting, especially as I had just started the course. Seeing the code come to life and watching the characters move was a moment of accomplishment that I’ll never forget. This project not only gave me a sense of how rewarding IT can be but also deepened my interest in expanding my knowledge in InfoComm Technology.
