How has life been since you started school?
My experience has been quiet yet fulfilling. I’ve been studying here for seven weeks now, and studies are going decently—at times becoming quite stressful and difficult, especially the mathematics module. My classes are routinely done, and I usually leave right after them with my friends. My days are structured and monotone, but the wonderful friends I have made make it more worthwhile. I have been scoring well on both my modules in quizzes and midterms; though it’s far from perfect. Overall, my time here so far has been surprisingly balanced—relaxing and productive. I look forward to more of these days.
What made you further your studies with PSB Academy?
PSB Academy offers various courses across 17 disciplines including Life Sciences, which I plan on pursuing in university and am passionate about. Besides the number of courses, the quick routes, such as the 9-month foundational diploma courses made it even more of a viable option. PSB Academy has provided me with a gateway to a variety of options. For the campus, I find it clean, modern and a very good ambience for education.
What made you embark on your course / discipline? How will this programme help you to achieve your dreams?
My affinity for science has aways been authentic and deeply rooted for me. My first career option/ambition was to become a doctor. It’s simple. I wanted to help people. I had this vision when I was in kindergarten. It would later fluctuate throughout my childhood to my teen years, switching from the arts to life sciences. Now, I am very sure of my stance in career choice, as I still want to help people, especially the sick and the needy, by creating vaccines and contributing to research.
How approachable and helpful were the lecturers/tutors? Was there anyone who motivated you through the challenges of completing your course?
My lecturers are very approachable. My chemistry lecturer is evidently passionate about her course, which I really appreciated since I struggled with the course. She goes over questions and tutorials one by one, just like my mathematics lecturer, just to make sure the class can understand the content. Overall, they are very nice and straightforward.
What advice would you give to other students planning to study here?
To upcoming and potential students, know that it isn’t easy. The path, no matter what it is – you must take seriously. Focus mostly on the present, envision the future, and learn from the past. But, also remember to take time for yourselves, families, friends and loved ones; invest a lot in your hobbies as much as your studies. Make friends. Don’t hesitate to ask for help. Don’t overcomplicate things. Be respectful, kind and humble throughout. Enjoy and work hard responsibly.
