Since I was a kid, I was always curious about how things are made and how machines operate. While diving deeper into my curiosity, I realised that I excel in subjects like math and science, which ultimately drove my passion for mechanical engineering. With consumers demand changing and technology advancing, the engineering industry is constantly evolving as well. In hopes of contributing to the future of engineering, I knew I needed a relevant engineering course to spur me towards my goal.
As an international student, choosing an institution can be pretty daunting. The academy’s advertisement and relevant engineering curriculum caught my attention, but the warm-hearted guidance from the programme consultants at PSB Academy made me enrol in the course.
The curriculum at PSB Academy is manageable as the modules are well-paced out, allowing us time to dive deeper into each topic before moving to the next. The syllabus is relevant and applicable in today’s engineering context. From the course, I have gained logic, computation, and mathematical skills, and I have also widened my understanding of physics and the mechanical properties of materials. On top of that, the lectures were very attentive, and they would avail themselves whenever we needed extra help in our studies. The programme coordinator for mechanical engineering, Mr Syafiq, has hugely influenced my student journey. His engagement with us is not limited to lesson time, but he has also been accommodating outside of lectures. He has inspired me to push beyond my limits to excel not just academically but also in other areas.
Aside from my academics, I am also the Marketing Vice President for the IES PSBA Student Chapter. My role involves supporting the President while ensuring continuity in the student chapter by planning programmes to recruit new members. In addition, I am also in charge of communicating and promoting student chapter activities.
PSB Academy has given me various opportunities to try new things and prove that I can accomplish many things but also helped me hone my soft skill sets that will be useful when I step into the working world.
