Carmen Lim (MSc)

Alumni Class of 2024
School of Engineering and Technology

Cybersecurity is fast-paced, and that’s exactly what fuels me. At BT Group, I managed the cryptographic backbone—root CAs, HSM operations, and PKI lifecycle automation. My work led to automated renewals, quarterly compliance reporting, and executive crypto-health dashboards.

Now at StarHub, I’ve transitioned into presales consultancy, designing secure access and edge-security frameworks for enterprise clients. I scope technical requirements, produce Statements of Work, and deliver demos that align with business needs. This blend of operational depth and solution design allows me to deliver both strategic insight and practical outcomes.

Pursuing my master’s degree in Cybersecurity with Coventry University at PSB Academy was a pivotal step. While my bachelor’s degree taught me how to break systems, my master’s taught me how to build secure, scalable ones. The practical labs and real-world projects equipped me with the confidence to lead, consult, and communicate risk effectively at the executive level.

The teaching was outstanding—particularly from my lecturer, Mr. Ryan Suryanto, who was approachable and always willing to guide us through complex material. His mentorship sharpened both my technical documentation and consulting skills.

Studying at a private institution has never been a disadvantage. I’ve been headhunted multiple times since graduating, which proves that applied expertise and mindset matter more than a name on a certificate. My education didn’t just open doors—it prepared me to walk through them, ready.
