Introduction

The Bridging Programme for Edith Cowan University (ECU) Bachelor of Exercise and Sports Science is designed to provide students with core knowledge, understanding and application on subjects related to sports and exercise sciences. This programme is specially curated for those who are interested to pursue their undergraduate degree within the related area and apply the knowledge learnt in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, and weights training to a range of sport of exercise and sport science theoretical and practical situations.

Students will be recommended by Edith Cowan University on the bridging modules they are required to take before advancing to the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science).

Graduation Requirements

Upon successful completion of the recommended modules, students may be awarded up to 8 modules (120 credit points) of advanced standing for the Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science) programme.

Admission Criteria

Local Qualifications

  • Polytechnic diplomas in a non-related field (fields other than sports and exercise science, nutrition, health, sports coaching); OR
  • PSB Academy Diplomas in non-sports and exercise science-related fields; OR
  • Other Private Education Institution Diplomas in non-sports and exercise science related fields; OR
  • Other equivalent diploma, advanced or higher diploma qualifications which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis

English Language Requirement

  • Year 12 English ATAR, English Literature ATAR Grad C or better; OR
  • Special Tertiary Admissions Test; OR
  • IELTS Overall Scores 6.0 with no individual Band less than 6.0; OR
  • TOEFL Paper-Based (TWE) 4.5; OR
  • TOEFL Internet-Based (TWE) 5; OR
  • Pearson Test of English Academic Score of 52 with no scores less than 50 for courses with a current requirement of Academic IELTS 6.0; OR
  • OET – A minimum score of B in each of four components; OR
  • PSB Academy Certificate in Academic English (CAE) Course – 60% or more in each of the 4 exams. Each of the 4 exams is of equal weighting; OR
  • GCE O Level – Grade C6 or better; OR
  • GCE A Level General Paper – Grade E or better; OR
  • GCE O Level – Grade D7 and a completed qualification assessed as equivalent to an AQF Diploma; OR
  • Advanced Diploma with a minimum 1 year duration from a Registered Private Institution; OR
  • A completed qualification assessed to AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma from a Registered Poytechnic; OR
  • A completed qualification assessed as equivalent to an Associate Degree or Bachelor degree from a Registered University

English language test scores must be less than 2 years old at the date of application to Edith Cowan University.

Note: Bridging students will only need to pay the course fees for the modules they are required to take.

All fees are subject to annual revision.

Scenario-Based Mandatory Fees

Bridging students will pay the same fees as Bachelor of Science (Exercise and Sports Science). They will not need to pay these same fees again when they advance to the degree course.
