Why did you decide to pursue the Foundation Diploma in Life Sciences at PSB Academy?
My interest in science led me to pursue a Higher Nitec in Chemical Process Technology, which offered a fresh perspective on science beyond healthcare. During my final year at ITE, I applied for the PSB Academy x SINDA sponsorship. It brought me a step closer to my dream of becoming a biomedical scientist, working in a lab, and conducting research. Although my journey hasn’t been straightforward, I’m determined to continue moving forward towards a career in biomedical research.
Do you think having a diploma is important, or is work experience more valuable?
Initially, I thought work experience was more important, especially since ITE certificates can sometimes be undervalued. I believed that hands-on experience was key to advancing in my career. However, I now understand that a diploma is also crucial. It provides formal qualifications and opens more opportunities, often required for specialised roles and further education. This foundation diploma in life sciences, is a crucial step toward achieving my goal of becoming a biomedical scientist.
How has your experience with PSB Academy been so far, especially in terms of support and resources available to you?
My experience with PSB Academy has been positive overall, particularly in terms of the support and resources available. The faculty is approachable and responsive, providing guidance whenever needed. The online resources and learning platforms are comprehensive and accessible, making it easier to keep up with coursework. Additionally, PSB Academy offers various workshops and study materials that have been helpful in enhancing my understanding of the subjects. Overall, the support system at PSB Academy has been instrumental in my academic journey so far.
Are there any modules or aspects of this Foundation Diploma in Life Science course that you find especially engaging or challenging?
I found the Introduction to Biological Science module really engaging. The clear explanations, detailed visuals, and interactive elements made the concepts easier to understand and kept me interested. It was great how the module combined theory with practical applications, which really helped me grasp the material better.

Yes, I’ve found a few strategies that help manage my difficulties while studying. Breaking down large topics into smaller, manageable sections makes it easier to stay focused and not feel overwhelmed. I also create visual aids like diagrams and mind maps, which help me grasp complex concepts more quickly. Writing things down, especially in my own words, reinforces my understanding and retention. Additionally, setting specific study goals for each session and taking regular breaks helps keep my energy levels up and prevents burnout. These strategies have made my study sessions more productive and less stressful.
